Love’s potion is once again being brewed in the next installment of the White Oak Lake series. The matchmakers have found a new project in Leslie Parker when she rents Morgan Chassion’s cabin. As always, the intentions are good when Clarice Minden and her cohorts begin to work their magic, but sometimes things just don’t go as planned and the results are disastrously funny.
All the while Morgan and the love of her life, Jaclyn, are on hand to smooth out the wrinkles.
The Magic of White Oak Lake isn’t found in the waters there or potions concocted in Clarice’s kitchen, it’s found in the people who have a great capacity to love. Grab a cup of tea, find a comfortable spot and enjoy some southern hospitality with dashes of humor, love, and compassion.

I thought this was a nice story, it's not one of Robin's best, but it's still a good read. Wendy and Leslie are likeable characters and their courtship is quite sweet, even if it's a bit fast to start with. I could have done without the over used contrivance of a misunderstanding that drags on because one character refuses to put on her big girl panties and discuss it but I've come to expect it in Lesfic. The 'hens' are overused in this story and once again I found their antics over the top, but at least this story actually dealt with their ridiculous habit of drugging people with pot without their consent. I liked catching up with Jacyln, Morgan and Austin, some of the best scenes featured all three. This is a nice, quick read, good for a beach or a rainy day.

The Magic of White Oak Lake White Oak Series Book 2 edition by Robin Alexander Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is a feel good story; wonderful when you want to escape your everyday hectic life and get reacquainted with the people of White Oak Lake. I settle in to begin reading this story knowing that there will be laughter (out-loud laughter) and lots of loving. Ms. Alexander does a magnificent job of explaining the various personalities of the residents of White Oak Lake. This is a hilarious rendition of what love and tolerance should be like. I will never think the same way about “knitting” again! Well done Ms. Alexander.
OMG! My all-time favorite author and book. If you find her previous books funny, you will not be disappointed.
This novel returns to white oak lake and the absolutely hilarious characters, including Morgan, Jacyln, and Austin their son, the three hens Ida, Betsy and Clarice and many more. But then we also meet some new characters Leslie and Wendy. Of course they fit right in.
I even question whether these people are real because Alexander does such a great job of creating her characters.
Definite five star!
What a happy day for me to find a new book from Robin. If you loved the first book The Lure of White Oak Lake. You will love this book. Some of your favorites characters from the first book and two great additions. New love to be had in the little town of White Oak. Thanks to the town "Hens". Thank you Robin for writing books that make me laugh so hard I cry. I recommend this book!
Robin Alexander is becoming one of my favorite authors.. In this novel we get to see the continuation of the characters lives from the first novel with an addition of two with a new story to tell. Leslie has a story that she is reluctant to tell while Wendy is waiting anxiously to hear. We have the same antics from three ladies who have been dubbed "the hens". Other goings on that create the humor of the novel causing laugh out loud moments. I recommend this novel to all that enjoy a good story with a few laughs.
The story continues in White Oak, LA. We catch up with Jaclyn, Austin and Morgan as well as their nutty neighbors. Added to the mix is a new-comer to White Oak, Leslie who rents Morgan's cabin and works as a carpenter in a near-by town. The gang soon tries to play cupid for shy Leslie, with gregarious Wendy. It's sweet but a little (okay, a lot!) tamer than the first novel. I liked it, but it didn't have the "love-magic" that the first had, on the plus side though it also didn't have some of the less pleasing elements (for me) of "The Lure of White Oak Lake" namely some of the more over-the-top actions of the crazy-trio! It's worth the read/purchase and not a re-hash of the first, but not quite as funny as some of Alexander's other novels.
I really enjoyed reading this sequel to 'The Lure of White Oak.' The author managed to keep all the charm and humor of the first book, while still keeping things fresh and interesting. I enjoyed seeing the progression of Jaclyn and Morgan's relationship, as well as the normal growing pains in their relationship with their teenage son Austin. The author did a great job of introducing new characters and integrating them into the wacky, but lovable community of White Oak. I thought there was a good balance between the old and new characters and the story moves smoothly, at a good pace. The question of what makes a family was presented with humor and grace. I highly recommend this book!
I know Robin says that there’s not a third or fourth addition in her— but there has to be since there’s so much more fun to be had. We need another crawfish boil, barbecue or just fun times with the family she’s created. Cher....you’ll love this book and all of the wonderful characters it brings to life!
